"There are experiences that stay with you, not just for the flavor of the wine, but for the soul of the place."
In October 2024, we found ourselves in Lucca to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was a trip defined by gratitude and the search for places that still hum with the rhythm of the past. By chance, we discovered Fattoria Maionchi—a fattoria (farm) that feels as if time has stood still within its ancient walls.
When we visited, the event spaces and guest rooms were still in the quiet stages of transition—unfinished, yet pulsing with potential. We felt the weight of history there, and it has been a profound joy to follow their journey since, watching from across the ocean as their vision has matured and materialized into a beautiful destination.
To mark our three decades together, we bought a bottle of their wine right there on the farm to celebrate. It remains an experience we still talk about today—a discovery of land and legacy that we found purely by chance.
Heritage & Vocation
Located in the Tofori hills of Lucca, Fattoria Maionchi is an estate where the production of wine and oil is an ancient vocation.
17th Century Cellars
The farm’s soul is found in its original 17th-century cellars. These underground spaces have remained virtually unaltered for hundreds of years, providing a natural environment where time stops and gives life to their unique wines.
The Tradition of Vin Santo
A true hallmark of the estate is their Vin Santo. Following ancient Lucchese traditions, the grapes are dried on bamboo mats in a dedicated 17th-century room (the vinsantaia) before undergoing a long, slow aging process in small wooden barrels.
DOC Winemaking & Olive Oil
The estate produces Colline Lucchesi DOC wines and extra virgin olive oil, rooted in the specific terroir of the Lucca hills. Every product is a reflection of a philosophy that prizes making things "as they once were."
Authentic Hospitality
Beyond the vines, the Fattoria has evolved into a center for Agriturismo, offering tastings and event spaces that allow visitors to experience the quaintness and antique atmosphere of a working historic farm.
If you are visting Tuscany and find yourself in Lucca, we recommend a visit!
